Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 becomes a bestseller in India

The Xiaomi offices are popping champagne - the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 became India's #1 bestselling phone online. One in every nine phones ordered online in the country were a Note 3, which means one every 7 seconds.
Until September, more than 2,300,000 units were sold since it went on sale. To celebrate this number, Xiaomi set up a promo page.

Microsoft Lumia 550 getting new update; 'Double Tap to Wake' not included

Microsoft has started pushing out a new update to its Lumia 550 Windows 10 Mobile smartphone. Carrying a firmware version of 01078.00042.16352.50012, the update is hitting unlocked Lumia 550 units, but - sadly - doesn't include an official change-log.

However, according to reports, it brings along some camera-related improvements as well as improvements related to WiFi, Cellular, Bluetooth, and GPS. Some stability-related improvements are also there, as are some general bug fixes.
Those waiting for the 'Double Tap to Wake' feature will be disappointed as the update doesn't include the functionality. In case you missed, other Win10-powered phones including the Lumia 650950, and 950 XL have already got the feature.

Samsung Galaxy A9 (2017) said to be in the works as well

If you recall, late last month, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), Galaxy A5 (2017), and Galaxy A7 (2017) were reportedly confirmed. Now, according to a new rumor out of China, the South Korean company is working on another 2017 edition Galaxy A series phone.

The rumor, which comes in the form of a Weibo post, says that a Galaxy A9 (2017) is in the works at Samsung. Sadly, nothing else was revealed about the device, except that it carries a model number of SM-A9200.
For those who aren't in the know, the tech giant has already launched the Galaxy A9 (2016)and A9 Pro (2016) this year.

Huawei to start manufacturing phones in India

Huawei has announced that it will soon start manufacturing smartphones in India. The company has teamed up with Flex to begin manufacturing in Flex' Chennai plant.

Starting from the first week of October, one of the (unspecified) Honor phones will begin manufacturing. The plan has capacity to manufacture three million units by the end of 2017. The first Made in India phones will be available as early as October itself.
In addition, Huawei will also be strengthening its service network in India, with over 200 centers and 30 exclusive centers across the nation. It will also add to its 350+ distributors in India by partnering with over 50000 retail outlets by the end of 2016.

Lenovo launches Z2 Plus in India

Lenovo has launched the Z2 Plus in the Indian market, which is a rebranded ZUK Z2. The phone is priced at an aggressive INR 17,999 ($269) for the 3GB/32GB model and INR 19,999 ($299) for the 4/64GB model.

The Z2 Plus has a 5-inch 1080p LCD, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 3/4GB RAM, 32/64GB storage, 13 megapixel rear camera, 8 megapixel front camera, fingerprint sensor, hybrid dual SIM slot, 3500mAh battery, and a near-stock version of Android Marshmallow.
